Pronouns ( คำสรรพนาม ) Types (ชนิดของคำสรรพนาม)


Pronoun ( คำสรรพนาม )  คือคำที่ใช้แทนคำนามหรือคำเสมอนาม ( nouns- equivalent ) เพื่อหลีกเลี่ยงการกล่าวถึงซ้ำซาก หรือแทนสิ่งที่รู้กันอยู่แล้วระหว่างผู้พูด ผู้ฟัง   หรือแทนสิ่งของที่ยังไม่รู้ หรือไม่แน่ใจว่าเป็นอะไร   คำสรรพนาม  (pronouns ) แยกออกเป็น  7 ชนิด คือ
Personal Pronoun ( บุรุษสรรพนาม )  เช่น I, you, we, he , she ,it, they
Possessive Pronoun ( สรรพนามเจ้าของ ) เช่น mine, yours, his, hers, its,theirs, ours
Reflexive Pronouns ( สรรพนามตนเอง ) เป็นคำที่มี - self ลงท้าย  เช่น myself, yourself,ourselves
Definite Pronoun ( หรือ Demonstrative Pronouns สรรพนามเจาะจง )  เช่น  this, that, these, those, one, such, the same
Indefinite Pronoun ( สรรพนามไม่เจาะจง ) เช่น  all, some, any, somebody, something, someone
Interrogative Pronoun ( สรรพนามคำถาม ) เช่น Who, Which, What
Relative pronoun ( สรรพนามเชื่อมความ ) เช่น  who, which, that
1.Personal Pronouns ( บุรุษสรรพนาม )  คือสรรพนามที่ใช้แทนบุคคลหรือสิ่งของในการพูดสนทนา มี 3 บุรุษคือ
บุรุษที่ 1
ได้แก่ตัวผู้พูด

บุรุษที่ 2
ได้แก่ผู้ฟัง

บุรุษที่ 3
ได้แก่ผู้ ที่พูดถึง สิ่งที่พูดถึง

เช่น
I saw a boy on the bus. He seemed to recognize me.
ฉันเจอเด็กคนหนึ่งบนรถประจำทาง เขาดูเหมือนจะจำฉันได้  ( He ในประโยคที่สองแทน a boy และ me แทน I  ในประโยคที่หนึ่ง )
My friend and her brother like to swim. They swim whenever they can.
เพื่อนฉันและน้องชายของเธอชอบว่ายน้ำ พวกเขาไปว่ายน้ำทุกครั้งที่มีโอกาส (  they ในประโยคที่สอง แทน My friend และ her brother ในประโยคที่ 1 )
การใช้ Personal Pronouns ที่ทำหน้าที่เป็นประธานและเป็นกรรมมีหลักดังนี้
Personal Pronoun ที่ตามหลังคำกริยาหรือตามหลังบุพบท ( preposition ) ต้องใช้ในรูปกรรม เช่น
Please tell him what you want.   โปรดบอกเขาถึงสิ่งที่คุณต้องการ  ( ตามหลังดำกริยา tell )
Mr. Wilson talked with him about the project.  
คุณวิลสัน พูดกับเขาเกี่ยวกับโครงการ ( ตามหลังบุพบท with )
หมายเหต        ถ้ากริยาเป็น verb to be สรรพนามที่ตามหลังจะใช้เป็นประธานหรือเป็นกรรม ให้พิจารณาดูว่า สรรพนามใน ประโยคนั้นอยู่ในรูปผู้กระทำ หรือ ผู้ถูกกระทำ เช่น
It was she who came here yesterday.
เธอคนนึ้ ที่มาเมื่อวานนี้  ( ใช้ she เพราะเป็นผู้กระทำ )
It was her whom you met at the party last night.
เธอคนนี้ที่คุณพบที่งานเลี้ยงเมื่อคืนนี้ (ใช้ her เพราะเป็นกรรมของ   you met )
2. Possessive Pronouns ( สรรพนามเจ้าของ )  คือสรรพนามที่ใช้แทนคำนามเมื่อแสดงความเป็นเจ้าของ ได้แก่คำต่อไปนี้
      mine,ours, yours, his, hers,its,theirs 
The smallest gift is mine. ของขวัญชิ้นที่เล็กที่สุดเป็นของฉัน
This is yours. อันนี้ของคุณ
His is on the kitchen counter. ของเขาอยู่บนเคาน์เตอร์ในครัว
Theirs will be delivered tomorrow. ของพวกเขาจะเอามาส่งพรุ่งนี้
Ours is the green one on the table . ของพวกเราคืออันสีเขียวที่อยู่บนโต๊ะ
possessive pronouns มึความหมายเหมือน    possessive adjectives แต่หลักการใช้ต่างกัน
This is my book.
นี่คือหนังสือของฉัน ( my ในประโยคนี้เป็น possessive adjective ขยาย book )
This book is mine
หนังสือนี้เป็นของฉัน (  mine ในประโยคนี้เป็น possessive pronoun  ทำหน้าที่เป็นส่วนสมบูรณ์ ( complement)  ของคำกริยา is )
3. Reflexive Pronouns ( สรรพนามตนเอง ) คือสรรพนามที่แสดงตนเอง แสดงการเน้น ย้ำให้เห็นชัดเจน มักเรียกว่า -self form of pronoun  ได้แก่
    myself. yourself, yourselves, himself, herself, ourselves. themselves, itself  มีหลักการใช้ดังนี้
  • ใช้เพื่อเน้นประธานให้เห็นว่าเป็นผู้กระทำการนั้นๆ ให้วางไว้หลังประธานนั้น  ถ้าต้องการเน้นกรรม (object ) ให้วางหลังกรรม เช่น
    She herself doesn't think  she'll get the job.
    The film itself wasn't very good but I like the music.
    I spoke to Mr.Wilson himself.
  • วางหลังคำกริยา เมื่อกริยาของประโยคเป็นกริยาที่ทำต่อตัวประธานเอง
    They blamed themselves for the accident.
    พวกเขาตำหนิตนเองในอุบัติเหตุที่เกิดขึ้น ( ตามหลังกริยา blamed )
    You are not yourseltoday.
    วันนี้คุณไม่เป็นตัวของคุณเอง ( ตามหลังกริยา are )
    I don't want you to pay for me. I'll pay for myself
    ฉันไม่อยากให้คุณเป็นคนจ่ายเงินให้ ฉันจะจ่ายของฉันเอง
    Julia had a great holiday. She enjoyed herself very much.
    จูเลียมีวันหยุดที่ดี เธอสนุกมาก
    George cut himself while he was shaving this morning.
    จอร์จทำมีดบาดตัวเองขณะทีโกนหนวดเมื่อเช้านี้
หมายเหตุ  ปกติ จะใช้  wash/shave/dress โดยไม่มี myself
  • เมื่อต้องการจะเน้นว่า ประธานเป็นผู้ทำกิจกรรมนั้นเอง
    Who repaired your bicycle for you? Nobody, I repaired it myself.
    ใครซ่อมรถจักรยานให้คุณ. ไม่มีใครทำให้ฉันซ่อมเอง
    I'm not going to do it for you. You can do it yourself.
    ฉันจะไม่ทำ( อะไรสักอย่างที่รู้กันอยู่ ) ให้นะ คุณต้องทำเอง
By myself หมายถึงคนเดียว มีความหมายเหมือน  on my own  เช่นเดียวกับคำต่อไปนี้
on ( my/your/his/ her/ its/our/their own     มีความหมายเหมือนกับ
by ( myself/yourself ( singular) /himself/ herself/ itself/ ourselves/ yourselves(plural)/ themselves )
เช่น 
I like living on my own/by myself. ฉันชอบใช้ชีวิตอยู่คนเ้ดียว
Did you go on holiday on your own/by yourself? เธอไปเที่ยววันหยุดคนเดียวหรือเปล่า
Learner drivers are not  allowed to drive on their own/ by themselves.
ผู้ที่เรียนขับรถไม่ได้รับอนุญาตให้ขับรถด้วยตัวเองคนเดียว
Jack was sitting on his own/by himself in a corner of the cafe.
แจ๊คนั่งอยู่คนเดียวทีีมุมห้องในคาเฟ
4. Definite Pronouns หรือ Demonstrative Pronouns  คือสรรพนามที่บ่งชี้ชัดเจนว่าใช้แทนสิ่งใด เช่น
 this, that, these, those, one, ones, such, the same, the former, the latter
That is incredible!    นั่นเหลือเชื่อจริงๆ  (อ้างถึงสิ่งที่เห็น)
I will never forget this.   ฉันจะไม่ลืมเรื่องนี้เลย (อ้างถึงประสบการณ์เมื่อเร็วๆนี้)
Such is my belief.  นั่นเป็นสิ่งที่ฉันเชื่อ (อ้างถึงสิ่งที่ได้อธิบายไปก่อนหน้านี้ )
Grace and Jane ar good girls. The former is more beautiful than the latter.
  เกรซและเจนเป็นเด็กดีทั้งคู่ แต่คนแรก (เกรซ)จะสวยกว่าคนหลัง (เจน)
5.Indefinite Pronouns ( สรรพนามไม่เจาะจง ) หมายถึงสรรพนามที่ใช้แทนนามได้ทั่วไป มิได้ชี้เฉพาะเจาะจงว่าแทนคนนั้น คนนี้ เช่น

Everybody loves somebody. คนทุกคนย่อมมีความรักกับใครสักคน
Is there anyone here by the name of Smith? มีใครที่นีชื่อสมิธบ้าง
One should always look both ways before crossing the street. ใครก็ตามควรจะมองทั้งสองด้านก่อนข้ามถนน
Nobody will believe him. จะไม่มีใครเชื่อเขา
Little is expected. มีการคาดหวังไว้น้อยมาก
We, you, they ซึ่งปกติเป็น personal pronoun จะนำมาใช้เป็น indefinite pronoun เมื่อไม่เจาะจง  โดยมากใช้ในคำบรรยาย คำปราศัย เช่น
We should prepare ourselves to deal with any emergency. เรา ( โดยทั่วไป) ควรจะเตรียมพร้อมไว้เสมอสำหรับเหตุการณ์ฉุกเฉิน)
You sometimes don't know what to say in such a situation. บางครั้งพวกคุณก็ไม่รู้ว่าจะพูดอย่างไรในสถานการณ์เช่นนั้น.
6. Interrogative Pronouns ( สรรพนามคำถาม )  เป็นสรรพนามที่แทนนามสำหรับคำถาม ได้แก่  Who, Whom, What, Which  และ Whoever, Whomever,Whatever,Whichever   เช่น
Who want to see the dentist first? ใครอยากจะเข้าไปหาหมอฟันเป็นคนแรก? ( who ในที่นี้เป็นประธาน )
Whom do you think we should invite? เธอคิดว่าเราควรจะัเชิญใคร? (  whom ในที่นี้เป็นกรรม - object )
To whom do to wish to speak ? เธออยากจะพูดกับใคร? (  whom ในที่นี้เป็นกรรม - object )
What did she say?  เธอพูดว่าอะไรนะ? (  what เป็นกรรมของกริยา say )
Which is your cat ? แมวของเธอตัวไหน? ( which เป็นประธาน )
Which of these languages do you speak fluently? ภาษาไหนในบรรดาภาษาเหล่านี้ที่คุณพูดได้คล่อง? ( which เป็นกรรมของ speak )
หมายเหตุ   which และ  what  สามารถใช้เป็น  interrogative adjective   และ who, whom , which  สามารถใช้เป็น relative pronoun  ได้
7. Relative Pronouns ( สรรพนามเชื่อมความ ) คือสรรพนามที่ใช้แทนคำนามที่กล่าวมาแล้วในประโยคข้างหน้า   และพร้อมกันนั้นก็ทำหน้าที่เชื่อมประโยคทั้งสอง ให้เป็นประโยคเดียวกัน   เช่นคำต่อไปนี้  who, whom, which whose ,what, that , และ indefinite relative pronouns เช่น whoever, whomever,whichever, whatever
Children who (that) play with fire are in great danger of harm.
The book that she wrote was the best-seller
He's the man whose car was stolen last week.
She will tell you what you need to know.
The coach will select whomever he pleases.
Whoever cross this line will win the race.
You may eat whatever you  like at this restaurant.
